AAUW supports issues favoring public education, women's equity and pay equity. HHL's newest project in the works will track the voting record of Northeast Ohio's Senators and Representatives as they vote for or against AAUW's public policy concerns. When its time to vote, will you want to know how your voice in Columbus speaks on these issues? Will this project spur you to tell your reps how you want them to vote? We certainly hope so. Plan to be an informed voter in November. Come back to watch the project unfold.
HHL is working as part of an AAUW/Ohio statewide project. We hope other branches will develop track records for their parts of the state. |

STUDENTS and UNIVERSITIES --
DC NCCWSL Conference
There are few opportunities for women to learn in a female-centered environment how to be a leader. NCCWSL is the only conference in the country that brings together college women from such diverse leadership experiences. Developing college women leaders since 1985, NCCWSL has brought its Women of Distinction Honorees to the conference each year to work with attendees. Honorees have beeen women as diverse as Mae Jemison, Connie Chung, Linda Sanchez, Eleanor Smeale, Dorothy Height, and Natalie Randolph. Read about the 2012 winners and wonder why you didn't register to go to the conference, or wonder why your university doesn't help sponsor and recruit students.
Read about this year, plan to go next year. More information here. Scholarships are available from both national AAUW and AAUW/Ohio.

Your Money
What would your family do with another $11,500 every year? Save more for you children's education? Move to a better neighborhood school? Get better dental or medical care? Why do we ask? In Ohio, women's median income is more than $11,500 less than men's.

Because women earn less, on average, than men, they must work longer to receive the same amount of pay.
