Taking Action

AAUW-HHL's local advocacy works to promote

  • equity of access to education by raising Ohio Graduation Test (OGT) scores in social studies through The New Little Book Project
  • gender fairness, equity, and diversity in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education
  • campus connections that encourage student opportunities for leader training, pay equity strategies, access to fellowships and grants, and relationships with the Cleveland community
  • family life issues

AAUW’s advocacy work at the national organization level builds upon a century of responsible public participation at the local, state, national, and international levels. The national member-endorsed Public Policy Program illuminates and advances AAUW’s mission of promoting equity and education for all women and girls.  AAUW conducts comprehensive advocacy to pursue its public policy priorities.

When women are increasingly prominent in medicine, law and business, why are there so few women scientists and engineers? AAUW's recent research report presents compelling evidence that can help to explain this puzzle. Why So Few? Women in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  Read the report at our national site.
